A fun village quiz is a a stalwart of the village pub and The Bell Pub in Hardwick is no exception. Since Christmas, the pub and villagers have come together to get the traditional pub quiz going again. The first of these events was held last Christmas which was a lively event filled with camaraderie and friendly competition, all in aid of the HVA helping protect our village hall and encourage community spirit.
So far all of our quiz's have had an atmosphere and have been buzzing with excitement and fun. Tables are arranged in clusters, each adorned with a paper and pen, ready for the eager participants to jot down their answers. The quizmasters have been dressed for the occasion and much to everyones delight Santa and his elves were asking the questions for our Christmas quiz.
Some teams were comprised of families, while others were friends and neighbours who had come together for a night of brain-teasing fun.
Since that first event, Hardwick Village has hosted a further two quiz's at The Bell pub, one in February hosted by farmer Bob
quizmaster extraordinaire, which was a well hosted and attended success. The latest one was held in mid April in conjunction with Spring...if it ever arrives!
Hosts this time round were villagers Jo, Rob and Brian who all took their hosting responsibilities to the max and once again dressed up in theme for the occasion, this time as morris dancers.
A good crowd attended and a wide variety of rounds and questions were asked to keep everyone involved. As the evening progressed, the competition heated up, with each team vying for the coveted title of quiz champions. But win or lose, the real prize is the sense of community and connection that comes from getting together with friends and neighbours to celebrate the simple joy of trivia and good company.
Its hoped the quiz's will continue at The Bell bi monthly with the next one due to happen in June hosted by the lovely Debs Mitchell, hope to see as many of you there as possible.
