The annual village pantomime is always a highlight of the the village calendar, and this year’s production of Old King Cole did not disappoint. Written and directed by the brilliant farmer Bob, the show delivered a delightful mix of slapstick comedy, quirky characters, and catchy songs that kept the audience laughing from start to finish.

Everyone is a star in Old King Cole with a perfect blend fun and silliness. The team put their all into entertaining the audience and making sure everyone that came to visit our village hall had a great time.

The costumes were colourful and imaginative thanks to Sue Hoskinson and with Rose Gregory’s own self designed wicked fairy costume, she was extra scary as one of the villains this year. The set design was simple but effective, with clever use of props that helped to transform the village hall into the magical world of Old King Cole’s kingdom.
As always, audience participation was a big part of the fun. From booing the villains to shouting out for the hero and the expected groaning at some of Bob’s slightly risqué jokes. The humour was family-friendly (mostly), with plenty of jokes that appealed to both kids and adults, making it a truly enjoyable experience for all ages.

Overall, Old King Cole was another success for Hardwick’s Pantomime troupe. The productions heart and humour shone through in spades. It’s clear that the cast and crew put a lot of effort into making this a fun and entertaining show for the village with the added bonus of money raised going towards the upkeep of our lovely village hall and a donation made to The St Francis Hospice. So a big thank you from the village to Bob and the team for another successful and fun year. Can’t wait to see what next year has in store for us!
